Ever since I decided that I want to pick back up on watercoloring I started to pay more attention to colors. The Sky is almost a great piece of art itself with the colors it contains. Weather yesterday was so beautiful it reminded me of a good summer day here in San Francisco.
Midnight Sunset
Summer in Iceland was an experience, we went around solstice and the sky was never dark. You get sunset around midnight but the sky is still bright. It was the first time I sleep with an eyes mask on. I occasionally fall asleep when the sun comes out, thought I could manage sleeping under bright light. 3 days in I was really glad that I took the eyes mask they were giving away on my flight to Iceland. Iceland was definitely one of its kind, I enjoyed every moment I spent there, definitely looking forward to head back again.
Spontaneous Road Trip
We decided to make a trip out to Napa last minute to join some other friends who's got a bnb over the weekend for Bottle Rock! That was my first time spending some time walking down the small downtown area in NAPA. If only the weather in the city gets that nice sometimes, I can still feel the heat from the sun, it was a really beautiful day.
The Pink Sky
It was the last show date my best friend and I went together before she moved to New York. She's always down for all my crazy adventures, it feels weird not having her around. The two of us wore our onesie and drove all the way to concord pavilion to see Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa perform. The sunset was stunning. (VSCO filter TK)
Speak No More
This was taken when I visited The Last Bookstore in LA end of summer. Spending my afternoon in a book store used to be one of my favorite things to do. Can't really remember when was the last time I spend more than 3 hours in a book store trying to finish a book there. Back in Taiwan we had a 24/7 book store where I sometimes go when I didn't want to be alone at home. I saw this manikin walking down the stairs at the last book store, I remember standing there for a good five minutes staring at it. It's such a power piece that I'm not sure how to even put those feelings in words.
The Endless Road
There's sheep everywhere in Iceland when you drive through the countryside in summer. These two guys were definitely taking their sweet time cruising on the highway doing their own thing. We had to stop the car in the middle of the highway, waiting for them to slowly get out of our way. We're just passengers trying to get through, it looked like they're there to guide us. The drive in Iceland was long, but the view was fascinating, each turn you take could lead you to a completely different scenery. I wasn't sure where this was taking us to, but i know that life will always find it's way.
Strangers in Brooklyn
I visited New York City for the first time back in June, spent a couple days there before flying to Iceland. I captured this moment when I was walking down Brooklyn Bridge with my friends. The lighting, the view, and two people being so deeply in love with each other. I wanted to send this picture to the strangers in it, but i wasn't able to track them down for information. They were like a piece of art, when two people are so deeply in love it's so powerful and you can feel that from pictures.
Combination of Life Journey
I've been talking to Ryan about working on some art projects together and he can show me how screen printing works. When I visited him in November he gave me a piece of plastic and told me to draw something for his upcoming zine. I haven't held a brush in my hand for years and I haven't been doing any art since high school really. Took me about an hour and half to come up with this pattern. It's a combination of things that helped me get to where I am today.
PS. Ryan's a really cool artist who's got some dope screen printing designs and does graffiti too. Check out his Instagram here!
